When did you start tattooing?

1999

How did you get into tattooing?

Well, I had been tattooing here and there. Only friends and friends of friends but never charging anyone. More as a hobby I guess you could say. My younger brother started tattooing straight out of high school and the shop he was working at needed someone. He said "Let me ask my brother if he'd be interested." and I jumped on it. At that time I was a union meat cutter and going to school majoring in mechanical engineering so, in retrospect, it may not have been the best choice in the long run but I wouldn't change any of it. I love what I do and look forward to everyday I get to continue doing it.

What inspires you as an artist?

I could say "Life" but that wouldn't be entirely true. I think what inspires me the most is seeing what other artists are doing and accomplishing. That drives me to push myself. I am definitely my own worst critic. People will tell me how awesome a tattoo I did was but all I can see is what I could have done better. I think the people that sit back and say to themselves "I'm awesome!" are going to cease to learn and grow and therefore get left behind.

What tattoo artist do you most admire?

There's a ton of artists out there I admire and respect. I couldn't narrow it down to just one. I admire all the guys I work with though. This is probably the best crew I've ever had the pleasure of working with. We're like family, petty squabbles and all.

Before someone gets a tattoo, what advice do you give them?

I really just try to go over the ideas they have and make sure I can get a good concept that they will appreciate forever. Of course, advice wise, I would have to say "Make sure this is something you will always want"

Is there anyone that you would like to tattoo?

I would really like to tattoo Hank III one day.

What kind of tattoos do you look forward to doing?

I would have to say my favorite style is bold color and realism. I really love doing realistic things but I don't get much opportunity to do that style. I think a large part of that is my location. Cleveland is great but traditional seems to be the favored style around here as far as I can see.

Is there a tattoo that you haven't done yet that you are dying to do?

There are a ton of tattoos I would love to do but haven't gotten to yet. One day...
